What started out as a call for advice, has become such a special and precious relationship. When we found Upasana’s name while looking for creators of Braille content in Mumbai, little did we know that we were connecting with such a warm, inspiring, indefatigable ray of sunshine. Upasana started White Print in 2013 with India’s first lifestyle magazine in Braille.
White Print has brought in a revolution of sorts by promoting Braille writing. It opened India’s mind not only towards reviving Braille literature but also Braille advertising.
We are proud to be the first bookstore in the city to start stocking books in Braille and we made our start with White Print and Tactabet, a tactile + Braille introduction to the English and Hindi alphabet and shapes, for sighted and visually impaired readers.
We are now even more overjoyed to welcome Look Out, Look Within to Trilogy. This book is one big ray of sunshine, reaching out to so many readers — this story is available in print, in Braille, as a sign language video, and will also be an audiobook! The story is simple, it’s about two children, Mia is unable to see the world with her eyes but explores it with her super senses of being able to touch, hear, feel and smell; Anya, her best friend enjoys learning about the world in an amusing and different way thanks to Mia. Upasana has always been championing the cause of inclusivity, and this is something that is valuable to us too. How can we ignore the needs and stories of such a precious part of our world?
