LIBRARY MEMBERSHIP RULES
Timings- Tuesday to Sunday: 11.30 am to 1.30 pm, and 2.30 pm to 6.30 pm.
THE LIBRARY FORM IS AVAILABLE ONLY AT OUR PREMISES.
PART 1- ABOUT THE SPACE
- Right to Admission and Liability: Trilogy is a private space. We reserve the right to admission and membership. We can terminate membership at any time by refunding the balance fees. We DO NOT accept liability for any accident, injury, illness, loss or damage to you, your companions or belongings whatsoever and however caused.
- Not an alternative workspace or study room: No laptop, outside reading material, food or beverages allowed. Bookstore books cannot be brought into or read in the Library. All bags and handbags must be deposited in the baggage area.
- Children’s behaviour: Children under 12 years must be accompanied by a parent or responsible guardian who is aware of the rules, and assumes full responsibility for the child’s health, safety and behaviour. If a child is damaging books, or running/playing loudly, the parent/guardian will be asked to take charge of the situation, or leave the premises. Please do not ask our staff to look after the child or ask them to correct the child’s behaviour.
- Mobile Phones: Mobile phones must be set to ‘silent’ in the Library. Please step out if you need to take a call.
- Non-members: Non-Members can briefly visit the premises but are not permitted to access library materials, or use their mobile phone while they wait.
- Prohibited: General photography and filming (e.g. of people or the building) is prohibited. Smoking, including electronic cigarettes, or drinking alcohol is not permitted anywhere on the premises.
PART 2 – RULES FOR BORROWING, MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL, FINES, REFUND OF SECURITY DEPOSIT
- Non-transferrable membership: The membership and card is non-transferable. The book is issued only to the person/(s) who is a member. You can send a staff member/delivery partner on your behalf only to return library books. A fresh set of books will not be issued to staff members/delivery partners.
- Fees: Fees must be paid to renew the membership on or before the last date of validity.
- What’s included for borrowing: Depending on your membership, you can issue 1-8 books (magazines are counted as books) at a time, for a duration of two weeks. Illustrated, large format books, rare out of print books, and those that are marked ‘For Reference Only’ will not be issued.
- Limitations: Renewing a book is not encouraged as books need to be made available for other members as well. Please return the book and take it again later when you have more time to read the book. In rare cases, a book can be reissued for 7 days, only if it isn’t reserved for another member.
- Late fees: A late fee of INR 10 is charged per book, per day of delay. This is not negotiable.
- Automatic termination of membership: PLEASE NOTE, IF YOU DO NOT RETURN THE BOOK(S) ISSUED FOR MORE THAN 45 DAYS, THE MEMBERSHIP IS AUTOMATICALLY TERMINATED AND THE SECURITY DEPOSIT IS FORFEITED.
- Library Card: The library card is linked to the security deposit. If you want to terminate the membership, the security deposit will be refunded, after deducting all fines, if any, only on receipt of the loaned books and the library card. If the library card is not returned, Rs. 200 is deducted from the security deposit.
- Claiming Deposit: The security deposit will not be refunded if the membership is not renewed for one whole financial year. The security deposit for such memberships will be forfeit. Those who wish to rejoin will have to re-pay the security deposit.
- Damages: Water damage or bending, tearing the spine/pages, will be considered damage. The marking of any Library material is forbidden and is considered as damage. You are responsible for the books if you share the books with someone else. Lost and damaged books will be fined at MRP+ ₹100, imported editions will be fined at MRP + ₹500. Damage or loss of rare and out of print books/editions will be charged at ‘cost of replacement’. This is not negotiable. Lost books will have to be compensated for by making the required payment as mentioned above. Books cannot be replaced by members. During the monsoon, please ensure that the books do not get even a little wet, please use plastic bags to protect the books.
- Photocopying: Photocopying any material or taking photographs of any reading material is absolutely not allowed. Anyone found doing so will be fined ₹2000/- and membership will be terminated.
PART 3 – SECURITY & COMMUNICATION
- Carrying belongings: Raincoats, and other kinds of outdoor clothing, umbrellas, bags, cases, reading material, laptops, cameras or other devices, and personal belongings must be deposited in the baggage area. The Library reserves the right to inspect anything brought into the premises.
- Communication: By becoming a member, you accept receiving and checking communication from us. We use only email for updates regarding the books you have checked out and the validity of your membership. For other admin related updates, such as changes to the timings due to the rains, etc. we use only WhatsApp Community. Please note, it is your responsibility to check your email and join the Whatsapp Community and check it for updates. We will not be responsible if you do not check messages from us. We can be reached during working hours on books@teltrilogy.com, and 9004444369 via messages (no phone calls due to weak network connectivity).
- Update information: Members must inform the library of any changes to their primary contact details and address.
Library staff are empowered to stop any activity in the Library which they consider prejudicial to the safety, well-being, or comfort of members or our books.
